STUDENTS’ UNION ENFORCES REGULATED COSTS OF TRANSPORTATION
Having discovered that there has been little to no compliance to the regulated costs of transportation for motorcycles, the Students’ Union officers has commenced a transportation cost enforcement exercise for motorcyclists. The exercise started yesterday, Thursday, 3 March 2022, immediately after the Students’ Representative Council Familiarization Meeting which held in SUB TV Room, having in attendance Honourables-elect, elected members of the CEC and the Chairpersons-elect of Halls.
The exercise, which continues today, Friday, 4 March 2022, is being carried out by elected members of the House, the CEC and the Chairpersons-elect of HECs at various places simultaneously, including Campus Gate, Bus Stops, and Halls. With the enforcement exercise, the Students’ Union seeks to discourage the growing menace of extortion which many motorcyclists are culpable of.
This exercise is only one of the approaches of the Union targeted at absolving students of transportation issues, these being partly adverse effects of scarcity of fuel but also products of exploitative nature of some transporters. The Union seeks the cooperation of Union members to successfully carry out this exercise and other ones to come.
Union members are to note the following:
Notwithstanding the entire price list being reviewed, here are places with tentative costs of transportation (by motorcycle) on campus:
Main Gate to Hall Of Residence ₦120
Main Gate to Market ₦150
Main Gate to Spider ₦150
For this period, the following still remain the same, just as had earlier announced before fuel scarcity:
Main Gate to Bus Stop ₦100
Main Gate to DSA/Agric ₦120
Bus Stop to Hall of Residence ₦50
Bus Stop to Market ₦50
Bus Stop to Ajose ₦50
Bus Stop to Road Block ₦50

Hall to Academic Area ₦50
Hall to ICT Centre ₦50
Hall to Central Market ₦50
Hall to Spider ₦70

On a final note, the Union assures that the issues regarding Town-Igboro fares will also be resolved soon and normalcy will be restored across board. The Union again appeals to members for cooperation while it addresses all raised issues.
