    The Aliko Dangote Foundation-VDMA cooperation encompasses the collaboration between the Aliko Dangote Foundation, the VDMA (Mechanical Engineering Industry Association) and its Foundation for Young Talent in Mechanical Engineering (Nachwuchsstiftung Maschinenbau gGmbH – NWS). The idea of developing a joint Vocational Skills Training Programme came from a shared vision about solving the substantial shortfall in vocational skills necessary in the industrial industry in Nigeria. These organizations have both been involved in supporting dual track technical and vocational training and education for many years. In addition to that, the enhancement of the Nigerian-German relationship between corporations and related institutions is another significant subject of importance. The training centre at the Dangote Academy provides a unique chance for an organized get-together and experience exchange.

    The course programme focuses on three major disciplines:

    • Short Courses Mechanical Programme
    • Short Courses Electrical Programme
    • Full Trade Vocational Training Mechanical Programme

    It consists of:

    – seven short courses for advanced training which last between 2 and 4 weeks. and

    – a 30-months professional, dual full trade vocational training programme

     Eligibility Standards

    • School leavers and trainees wishing to pursue a qualification in the vocational sectors of mechanics, electronics, and mechatronics can do so through a variety of routes.
    • Technical specialists from firms in the manufacturing industry who wish to further their professional development as part of their job responsibilities
    • Instructors who wish to be given the authority to deliver advanced training and courses

    • The ADF-VDMA Technical Training Program Interview Date, Process, and Location will be announced soon.
    • The first group of trainees will be trained for 18 months, after which they will continue their education for another 12 months to become Industrial Mechanics. This brings the overall length of time to 30 months.
    • The training will take place at Dangote Academy, which is part of the Dangote Training Centre in Obajana, where the project’s partners have constructed extra training facilities to accommodate the Nigerian-German trainees. A modern classroom, computer and technical drawing rooms, as well as electrical, automation, instrumentation, and mechanical workshops are all part of this state-of-the-art center’s offerings.
    • Accommodations for students, a cafeteria, and an administrative wing are also available on the premises. There are plans to construct modern recreational facilities on the Dangote Academy Campus, which will help to complete a comfortable stay on the campus.
