Amid the long indefinite strike embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities since the 14th of February of 2022, a lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University began his music career.
The OAU lecturer, Dr T. Olatoberu, is an academic staff from the Department of Soil Science and Land Resources Management. With the ongoing strike hitting 5 months and 3 weeks, more lecturers have been seen ‘engaging’ themselves to make ends meet per the Federal Government’s “No work, no pay” condition.
Several students have also been forced to make difficult decisions with the sudden halt on their academic pedestal for close to 200 days.

There has been no progressive action from the Federal Government. Despite consecutive meetings and promises to put an end to the strike, no solution that truly satisfies the demands of ASUU has been met.

The latest update on ASUU came from the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, as he urged parents to beg ASUU to end its strike.
