The Federal Government is set to fulfill its promise as it requests for a list of all students studying Education in Nigerian Universities, based on the promise made last year.

In early October, Sonny Echono, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, read out a speech that said:

“Undergraduate students of B.Ed./B.A. Ed/BSc. Ed in Public institutions are to receive stipends of N75,000.00 per semester while NCE students will get N50,000.00 as stipends per semester”

This news was however taken as a bluff by most students as they lamented that it wasn’t the first time the Federal Government made such a promise without fulfilling any. The news today came as a shock as the Federal Government is putting into effect measures to fulfill its promise.
