Hong sisters are back with yet another captivating and suspenseful story from the teaser trailer of the Alchemy Of Souls season 2. Korean drama fans have waited for this premiere of the fantasy period drama, Alchemy of souls, and finally, December is here! The trailer is not dull at all, the scenes are mystery filled and it looks like there is less humor awaiting us in the series.
Theories and speculations aside, the season 2 trailer of Alchemy of Souls has briefly depicted the notable difference the characters have taken to what they were in the preceding season. Couple with the few missing pieces that will perfectly keep viewers and fans of Alchemy of Souls at the edge of their seats, and the heart-aching thoughts of how Daheo mages would strive to rewrite their lost stories. Now, allow me to point out the observable things from the Alchemy Of Souls season 2 trailer
1. Jang Uk’s lost Smile

The King’s star is no longer the cute, adorable, and reckless mage he was in the first season of the Alchemy Of Souls, the trailer of the season show more of Jang Uk’s cold stare and grieved face. His words; “I Promised to protect someone and fail to do so“, and we all should know Mu-doek is that someone. And that was followed by “How could I protect anyone else“, he said— referring to his destiny and responsibility as a reborn of the Ice Stone. Thereabout, revealed his loss and grief, and regret. Mudeok, Jang Uk’s love, and motivation were gone.
2. The Return of Nak-su

Right, a little reminder that Nak-su’s body was burned in the first season of Alchemy of Souls— so, how did she resurface in her true body and not in Mu-deok’s body? Hong sisters have got some explaining to do with the upcoming second part of the series. The trailer showed Nak-su, the real warrior and the then notorious assassin in her own body leaving the realization that Nak-su will come back to the scenes and not the Mu-deok we’ve gotten attached to.
3. Revenge Quest Of Jang Uk

In the trailer of season 2 of Alchemy of Souls, Jang Uk only became fierce, and the glint of his eyes burn find his enemies that caused him so much loss. And his determination made it seem he’d stop at nothing to get his obstacles wiped out— I mean, who wouldn’t be angry after his kind of tribulations— Blinded with rage, and Mu-deok gone, there will be no stopping him.
4. No Appearance Of Jinbuyeon/ Naksu
I don’t know how Hong sisters want to tell the story without the Jinoyowon priestess reincarnated, Mu-deok/Jin-Buyeon, as the Alchemy Of Souls season 2 trailer showed no sign of the host and character. Need I remind you while concluding the first season of the Alchemy of Souls Mu-deok sinking was saved and held at each side as two unknown figures swam up with her. Mu-deok/Jin Buyeon was saved, so where’d she go in the second season? I’m guessing we’ll find out while the series goes on, the story better fills that gap.
5. Nak-su’s Clueless face

We all met the infamous Nak-su eliminating the Songrim mage at the first season of Alchemy of Souls, she was a fighter with outstanding martial skills complimenting her warrior outfit, powerful sword and sinister smile. However, Alchemy of Souls season 2 trailer showed Nak-su in a white embroidered era dress. The new Nak-su no longer hold sword and the look on her face were that of a newborn, plain, with no clue of her past. Everything about her was so unlikely and very innocent too— I hope we are not looking at amnesia right there.
6. Jang Uk With Naksu’s Sword

If you keep your eyes on every details surrounding the lead character and King’s star, Jang Uk, you’ll notice while watching the season 2 Alchemy Of Souls trailer he has two swords each in his hands which one of them is recognizably Nak-su’s. He might not have any use of it, the sword can only respond to it’s master, but that fighting blade can be kept and hold on too for a reminder of what was lost.
7. Jin Mu’s Never-Ending Craze

Before the conclusion of the first season of Alchemy of Souls, Jin Mu was already a known and open enemy who masterminded the soul shifting frenzy in the fictional country of Daheo. He went into hiding and came out at the time he thought suited him and his claims. The season 2 trailer let us a peek of the monster and sinister loud laughter from the main villain of the series, Jin Mu. His face that usually masked his deceptive abilities held dark insanity promising to cause unrest.
8. The Glow of Yin-yang Jade

Did you recall how the Yin-yang and blue-red jade paired between Jang Uk and Mu-deok glowed and made a connection between the crown prince and Jang Uk himself? That happens when the relic is fed with a mage’s energy, and the Alchemy of souls season 2 trailer showed that glow again and I’m guessing it was a moment of reunion that is coming! It wasn’t shown who the Jade trinket was making connection with, but the stunned look on the face of Jang Uk shows it’s gonna be a surprise.
9. Seo Yul’s Seen With Nak-su

Okay, so we all thought Seo Yul was finally ready to let go of his love for Nak-su but the Alchemy of Souls season 2 trailer told us the quite opposite. Well, no intentions were notable, Seo Yul said this: “There is something I must handle” the clip showed him holding Nak-su’s hand and it didn’t end where tears flowed down his eyes embracing her—“This time, it is my turn” — what could that possibly mean? Something tells me he’s going to hide Nak-su from the world to protect her just like Jang Uk did with her identity in the first season.
10. More Sword Clash

The feud had only begun as Jang Uk said in the season 2 Alchemy of Souls trailer, “I have decided to accept this fight…” the clip showing Jang Uk using Chisu “…in order to protect what I must.” That sounds like Jang Uk has found a reason to keep his head up and fight and the clip showing his palm closing on the blue jade trinket says it all. And with Jin Mu still breathing, there is going to be more fight and a possibility of soul shifting insurgency.
The crew of Daheo country setting has got something big coming this December and no doubt, many questions to answer. And I must say, we’ve been holding our breaths far too long to see where the story of Alchemy Of Souls is headed. Get your souls ready or get them swap!
