The Nigerian general election, which determines the destiny of the country for the next four years, was held on February 25, 2023, and many Nigerians came out in multitudes to massively support their preferred party candidates. With leading parties such as APC, PDP, and LP, whose running candidates were fully backed and supported in many Nigerian states. From the election results, Tinubu had the highest number of votes from 10 leading states with a total number of over 8 million votes. Today, we identified the Nigerian States that are fully batified for the APC candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
1) Ekiti

We have Ekiti state coming in first with 201,494 votes in support of APC candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Ekiti is the state that carries the title of having the most educated people in Nigeria and this reflects in the number of federal and private institutions that dominate many cities in the state. It is no surprise that the people of Ekiti wouldn’t fail to support one of their very own Yoruba tycoons. This clearly shows that they are fully batified and in support of him.
2) Oyo

Southwest’s most popular state, Oyo comes in stronger with a vote of 449,884 for APC. It is no less surprising that the Yoruba empire would support one of its own. As it’s capital is the third largest city by population in Nigeria and was the second most populous city in Africa, as of Nigeria’s independence in 1960. It’s no surprise that Asiwaju would have a large number of votes from this state.
3) Ogun

Ogun state comes in with 341,554 votes for the Balabulu master himself. Ogun state is one of the biggest commercial hubs in the country, as many popular consumer brands have their factories and industries in the state. Ogun is also known to be heavily into tourism and agriculture. Many people visit the state and its capital city to see many Yoruba historical sites Ogun state, just like its other southwest counterparts didn’t hide its full batified support for Tinubu. It is praised for being one of the states with a high number of votes for APC and the batified movement.
4) Kogi

Kogi state showed its unshaken support with 240,751 total votes in the state. It stood strong in showing up for Asiwaju. Kogi people didn’t fail to show that they wouldn’t fail to stand by whoever they strongly support. Kogi state is one of the many Nigerian states that is very diverse. It has a mix of people from different tribes but most especially from Yoruba and Hausa tribes. It is also the only state in Nigeria that borders ten other states, as it is popularly known as the confluence state due to the fact that River Niger and Benue’s confluence occurs next to the capital, Lokoja.
5) Kwara

Kwara state, located in the North Central part of Nigeria had 263,572 votes for APC. Making it a strong batified state in running for Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead in the polls. Its total number of votes showed it is one of the states in the north with the strongest support for the Asiwaju himself. Kwara played a major role in the elections as it was one of the few states in the north that fully engaged in the general elections and had significant political awareness of its people. This political role played by Kwara shows how its contribution helped the batified movement have a lead at the polls.
6)Ondo

Another batified state in full support of Tinubu is Ondo state, with 369,924 votes. Ondo state, popularly known as the “sunshine state” is known for its petroleum and production of cocoa. Ondo joins its other southwestern counterparts in landing the Balabulu father at the highest position on the polls. Ondo truly showed that it fully backs the batified movement.
7) Zamfara

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Bola Ahmed Tinubu had an impressive 298,396 number of votes in Zamafara. Zamfara showed that it is fully in support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his party, as it is praised to be the only northwestern state that lauded the Asiwaju win at the presidential polls. Zamfara people backed the batified movement, as the party won the state by a landslide.
8) Rivers

In Rivers state, the batified following showed full support in the state with a total number of 231,591 votes by state members. This made APC to be the most favored party in Rivers state. Rivers is known to be the biggest commercial hub in Nigeria because of its rich capital, Port Harcourt. As the Governor of Rivers state, Wike played a very instrumental role for the party in his state, as the people of rivers are optimistic supporters of the APC and the Tinubu mobilization. Rivers has proven to be a major political player in politics and it’s sure that its people will continue to play a front row in political affairs.
9) Borno

Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress received 252,282 votes in full support of his political movement in Borno state. Borno didn’t fail to show that it was a fully batified state that was ready to back up Asiwaju’s candidacy. Borno state is located in the Northeastern part of Nigeria and it is the homeland of the Kanem-Borno empire. As it is one of the oldest and longest–surviving African empires. But it is majorly known to be notorious for terrorist attacks and insurgency.
10) Benue

Benue played a significant role as one of the north-central states that came in strong with a total number of 310,469 votes among the states. Despite the stiff competition with the Labour party, APC came out as the winner in Benue. This made it join the league of fully batified states for the APC candidate, Bola Tinubu. Its very high voting numbers are a testament to how politically aware its people are especially with the fact that APC doesn’t have very much dominance in the state. But it pulled through despite its stiff competition with Labor Party, a very dominant party in the state.

The 10 aforementioned Nigerian states in support of Tinubu show that he has a strong following in certain parts of the country, particularly in the Southwest region. Only time will tell whether Tinubu’s popularity and political capital will continue to grow and expand across the nation, or if other political figures will emerge to challenge his position in the hearts and minds of Nigerian voters.
