Throwback Thursday: 10 Primary School Songs We Misrecited

As kids, life was really fun, no debit alerts, no thought of what to eat, just to cry for sweet and caprisone. Taking us down the memory lane, you’d realize that as children we were so innocent, we recited rubbish with so much confidence and pride, no one dared to correct us then because that was what our aunty taught us.
Below are 10 primary school songs we misrecited:

1. Mary Had A Little lamb

In every primary school end of the year party then, this rhyme must be recited, if you didn’t know it then, you might just be left out.

2. Our breakfast song

Once we get to school, one of the things we look forward to is break time, at least we’d have time to play and run around. Before doing anything in school then, you must recite this song.

3. Closing Song

I think I got to Basic 6 before getting the correct version. The happiness that we’d run around before school bus driver comes around and before our parents come to pick us. We just recite the rhyme anyhow.

4. Oh my home

This was like a special song, for you to sing it, you must have the disc at home. We felt proud of knowing what the class doesn’t know then.

5. Sanda Lily

I’ve heard people say the correct one is standard living or something, wow! That sounds so boring, why will I sing that as a song, our own gangan is

6. Row row row your boat

As I was reciting this now, I can’t help but laugh, what the hell did I sing then.
“Row row row your boat, “gentle” down the stream, merrily merrily merrily merrily life is “wrfufsscjnh””

7. Jack and Jill

I think we had rhymes book then, that we’d always watch out for the next rhyme.
“Jack and Jill “tybtfhh” a hill to fetch a pain of water, Jack fell down and broke his arm and Jill “cfgvjiursasb” after

8. Solomon Groundi

This one was like an everyday song, I wonder what made it hard then. Lol, we were much younger.
“Solomon gandi, born on Monday, “gyhjikkj” on Tuesday, married on Wednesday, “yfyhhuj” on Thursday, worse on Friday, died on Saturday, terid on Sunday, this is the end of Solomon gandi”

9. Holiday is coming

Only primary school legends know this one properly, you have to be in basic 3 upward to recite it, all we did then was eat our mouth till we can come up with something.

10. Our Father

On every assembly ground, our father must be recited.
“Our Father who is at in heaven, Halo be thy name, thy dfghhg come,thy will be done on “erdtg” as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our “guhukkkkl“, as we forgive those who “wffybgy” against us and “fykloougbbkkbeaasghlombvinol“, for thou are in de kingdom, de Power and de glory, forever and ever, Amen!”

boys and girls stages of our lives, at least once in a
while, it’s always good to think over and remember the days we lived not worrying about a thing.
