The Obafemi Awolowo University Motorcyclists Union has voted to strike in a dispute over transportation fares. The OAU Motorcyclist union on Thursday launched an indefinite strike, seeking pay rises on transportation fares within OAU.
With around 500+ members organized in the sector, the Obafemi Awolowo University Motorcyclist unit has called for a total shutdown after the management has failed to increase transport fares.
The union said despite the inflation and increment in the price of goods and services, the transportation fare in OAU hasn’t increased. Our correspondent, who engaged some bike men, noted that a large number of them complained about the cost of living in Nigeria; we can recall that IOI reported that inflation in Nigeria hit 21%, which is the highest since interception. Amidst this inflation, many of them have families to cater for.
