Daeho was the fictional country in “Alchemy of Souls” that got its name and powers from a magical lake, Lake Gyeongcheondaeho, that supercharged the country. Individuals that can harness the power of the lake and wield power over the lake’s energy are referred to as mages. Ever wondered what it takes to be the most powerful mage?
A mage is a fighter with his/her gate of power opened. After the gate of power has been opened, the mage now has to train on how to use the power to control the major elements, air, water, earth, and fire.
To become a very powerful mage, you need to complete these five stages:
1. Jipsu

This is the first step to becoming a powerful mage. Jipsu is a mage’s ability to gather water with his/her energy. Jang Uk was the only mage in Alchemy of souls who didn’t master Jipsu first. But every mage is to first of all master Jipsu before any other skill.

2. Ryusu

Ryusu is the ability to gather energy through the flow of water. Ryusu helps mages master sword control; without this skill, a mage may not be able to unsheathe a sword. The energy Ryusu helps a mage gather from within allows them to control their sword and also perform other skills using the sword. Also, you would see that Jang Uk wasn’t able to unsheathe his sword because he hadn’t mastered Ryusu.
3. Chisu

Chisu is arguably one of the strongest abilities in Alchemy of souls and is also one of the most difficult to master. Only a few mages in Alchemy of souls managed to completely master Chisu. It also takes a long period of time to master Chisu, only Jang Uk remains an exception for having mastered Chisu in days. With Chisu, a mage can direct his/her energy to gather water in the atmosphere and land an opponent a huge blow. It’s a very lethal skill.
4. Hwansu

Hwansu is a dark arts skill and a very powerful one. This skill though powerful is forbidden for all mages in Alchemy of souls. Jin Mu and Song Rim for ages have been hunting defiant mages who have mastered this skill for dark arts. Hwansu also allows a mage to manipulate the elements of life. It’s also needed to be able to control the ice stone to an extent.
As it’s stated in the movie, no one can fully control the ice stone as it is the power of the skies. But with Hwansu it could still be controlled. Completely mastering Hwansu allows a mage to perform the Alchemy of souls. It allows a mage to leave one body for another and also, drain the energy of a human.
5. Tansu

Tansu is not a major stage to be mastered as it’s just a sword skill. But to become a very powerful mage, Tansu is needed to stand out. Only a few mages who are extremely powerful like Naksu have mastered Tansu. She was able to teach the skill to Jang Uk which won him his dwell with the Crown prince. Tansu is the ability of a mage to use their energy to slice drops of water with their sword.
If you can successfully master all of these skills, then you will become one of the most powerful mages in Alchemy of souls, we will all hail you as the master of masters.
